Common Questions:
What are contactless payments?
Contactless payments use short-range wireless technology to quickly complete payments between a contactless- enabled card or payment-enabled device and a contactless-enabled checkout terminal. A contactless Visa card is a chip card that has a near field communication (NFC) antenna, which enables close-range payments. When you tap your contactless card at a contactless-enabled checkout terminal (near the Contactless Symbol, your payment is sent for authorization.
Where can I use my card?
Anywhere that accepts debit cards. If a register isn’t contactless-enabled, you can still swipe or insert your card. Contactless technology is supported by thousands of merchants.
Is my new contactless card as secure as my chip card?
Yes, your card still has chip protection. When used at a chip-enabled register, a unique code is created that changes each time you use your card.
Can I use my contactless card for online or over-the-phone purchases?
Yes. It still has a number, expiration date and security code like other cards. But online or over-the-phone purchases don’t provide the enhanced security like in-store purchases at chip-enabled registers.
