DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Why?

Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What?

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Contact Information such as name, mailing address, email address, telephone and mobile number(s).

  • Unique device identifiers (for example Media Access Control (MAC) and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses)

  • Browser type, version, language, and display/screen settings

  • Information about how you use and interact with our Sites and Mobile Apps (for example, activities on pages visited, links clicked or unique and measurable patterns such as keystrokes, mouse clicks and movements, swipes and gestures)

  • Communications data, such as your communication preferences and details or the content of your communications with us (e.g., text messages, chat messages)

  • Responses to advertisements on sites and mobile apps where we advertise

  • Log information such as your search and voice to text queries in the mobile app

  • Search engine referrals

  • Geolocation information (for example, for real time ATM or financial center location, upon request, or for fraud prevention)

  • Social media preference

When you are no longer our customer, we continue to share your information as described in this notice.

How does Bankwell protect my personal information?

How does Bankwell collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • open an account or deposit money

  • pay your bills or apply for a loan

  • show your government-issued ID

  • give us your income information

  • submit check images for mobile check deposit

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  • affiliates from using your information to market to you

Affiliates

Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Bankwell Bank, Bankwell Financial Group, Inc., and Bankwell Loan
    Servicing Group, Inc. are affiliated with each other.

Nonaffiliates

Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Bankwell does not share with nonaffiliates so they can market to you.

Joint marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

  • Our joint marketing partner(s) include credit card companies.

Bankwell does not require you to provide any personal information to obtain access to our website (except for information obtained through "cookies" as described below). Personal information from visitors to our website is often provided on a voluntary basis. For example, you may provide information to apply for a product or to use our Internet Banking Service. The law requires parental consent to collect or use information from a child under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Please do not provide us with any personal information if you are under the age of 13.

The Bankwell website and our Internet Banking System may, from time to time, contain links to other sites. Bankwell is not responsible for the privacy or security practices employed by these third party sites and we recommend that you review their privacy and security practices before you provide any personal or confidential information. Bankwell is not responsible for the content of third party sites hyperlinked from our web site or our Internet Banking System, nor does it guarantee the products or services offered on third party sites.
