Bankwell System Upgrade

April 8 - April 11

System upgrade to better serve you as you bank well.


As a part of Bankwell’s continued commitment to invest in the most current technology and to deliver the best client experience, we are happy to announce a system upgrade scheduled for the weekend of April 8.

The upgrade will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 8, and be completed on Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM.

Safeguarding your personal and financial information is paramount. Rest assured that your information will remain secure throughout this process.    


Your account information is NOT changing:

• No change to your Online Banking Password
• No change to account numbers or routing numbers
• No change to your Bill Pay
• No change to your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
• No change to your account’s terms and conditions

I received an Activation Notice. What is it?

A portion of our account-holders recently received notices in the mail regarding changes to the status of their account(s). This was an unintended side effect of our recent core conversion.

Be assured there has been no change to your account and your information has not been compromised. We apologize for any inconvenience. For questions, please contact your local branch.

Why is Bankwell upgrading the core processing system?

It is part of our continued commitment to invest in the most current technology and to deliver the best client experience. 

What is a core processing system?

A core processing system manages our major banking functions.  These include opening and managing deposit accounts and loans, processing teller transactions, protecting your information and more. 

How will the upgrade benefit me?

It paves the way for improved functionality and features in the future. You'll benefit with a better Bankwell experience, including faster account opening and added convenience.  

When will the upgrade take place?

Conversion weekend will begin after business hours on Friday, April 8 at 4:00 PM. It will be completed on Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

What can I expect during the system upgrade?

You may experience some system downtime starting Friday, April 8 at 4:00 PM until Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM.
• All Bankwell branches will be closed on Saturday, April 9.
• Online and Mobile Banking will be unavailable from Friday, April 8 at 6:00 PM through Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM.
• Bill Pay will be unavailable from Friday, April 8 at 6:00 PM through Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 
• Telephone Banking will be unavailable from Friday, April 8 at 4:00 PM through Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

What do I need to do to prepare for the upgrade?

This upgrade happens entirely behind the scenes, with little to no impact to you. Please see the section above to be aware of temporary interruptions and other important information. If you have Quicken/QuickBooks/Mint, be sure to read the related FAQ. 

What should I do if I have additional questions? Or questions during conversion weekend?

Will I be able to resume my normal banking after the upgrade?

Yes. There should be little to no disruption to your day-to-day banking after we upgrade our system. 

Will my account information change?

No. Your account information is not changing. No change to your Online Banking password, account numbers or routing numbers. No change to Bill Pay, Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) and your account's terms and conditions. 

Will I still be able to use my checks and deposit slips?

Yes. You will continue to use your existing Bankwell checks, routing numbers and deposit/withdrawal slips. 

Will my personal and financial information remain secure during conversion weekend?

Yes. Safeguarding your personal and financial information is paramount. Rest assured that your information will remain secure throughout this process. 



Branch Hours

Will the branches be open throughout conversion weekend?

No. All our branches will be open for regular business hours on Friday, April 8.  All Bankwell branches, including Cherry Street and Hamden, will be CLOSED on Saturday, April 9. All Bankwell branches will be open for business on Monday, April 11 for their regular business hours.    

Why do the branches have to shut down?

Our technology partner requires the entire weekend to convert to the new platform. Many systems need to work together to make this happen smoothly.   



ATMs

Will I be able to use my ATM / debit card over conversion weekend?

Yes. You can use your ATM or debit card for cash, purchases or payments.

Will Bankwell ATMs be available over conversion weekend? Can I access other ATMs?

Yes. Bankwell ATMs will be available while we convert to the new system. You can also use your Bankwell ATM / debit card at any ATM. 

Will I be able to view my balance on the ATM over conversion weekend?

No. During conversion weekend Balance Inquiry will be unavailable at the ATM.   



Online and Mobile Banking Capabilities

Will there be an impact to Online and Mobile Banking?

Yes. Online and Mobile Banking will be unavailable from Friday, April 8 at 6:00 PM through Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

Will there be any changes to Online and Mobile Banking after the upgrade?

No. Our Online and Mobile Banking platform is not changing.     

Can I make a Mobile Deposit on the Friday of conversion weekend?

Yes. You can make a Mobile Deposit on Friday, April 8 until 5:00 PM.

Will I be able to make a Mobile Deposit during conversion weekend?

No. Mobile Deposits will be unavailable from Friday, April 8 at 5:00 PM to Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

Will I be able to deposit checks for my business through Remote Deposit Capture during conversion weekend?

Per our standard processing days, you will not be able to use Remote Deposit Capture on the weekends, only during normal business hours. 

Will I see all my transactions and account activity on Online Banking after the upgrade?

Yes. All transactions will be viewable in Online Banking before and immediately after conversion on Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

My transaction history looks different online. Has something changed?

You will notice a change to your transaction history. Same day transactions will now appear as pending on your account. After the transaction has posted on the next business day, you will see it reflected as a posted transaction on your account.

Will my pre-set transfers from one account to another occur during conversion weekend?

Yes. Pre-set transfers set for Saturday or Sunday will occur on Sunday, April 10. After the upgrade, they will revert back to their original schedule.



Online Payments / Bill Pay

Will I be able to access Bill Pay during conversion weekend?

No. During conversion weekend, Bill Pay will not be available from Friday, April 8 at 6:00 PM to Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

Will my pre-scheduled Bill Pay payments be paid during conversion weekend?

Yes. All your pre-scheduled payments will be processed. 

Will my scheduled payments/direct deposit still be in place after the upgrade?

Yes. All of your set payments will remain in place. 

Will ACH payments take place during conversion weekend?

All pre-scheduled and pre-authorized payroll and ACH payments will be sent on their normal schedule during regular business hours. 

Will I be able to use my payment apps like Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay?

Yes. You can use the payment app but the transaction and balance updates won't appear until Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

Will I be able send Person to Person payments during conversion weekend?

No. During conversion weekend Person to Person payments will not be available until Monday April 11, no later than 10:00 AM.



Quicken / QuickBooks Mint

Will there be any impact to my Quicken, QuickBooks or Mint?

You will be required to make changes to your Quicken, QuickBooks or Mint software.  

There are two Action Dates:   
             
• 1st Action Date is April 8: A data file backup and a final transaction download should be completed on or before April 8 at 5:00 PM, as transaction history within Quicken, QuickBooks and Mint may not be available for up to 5 business days.   

• 2nd Action Date is April 11: You will need to deactivate then reactivate your online banking connection to ensure your current Quicken, QuickBooks or Mint account is set up with a reactivated connection to Bankwell.

Intuit aggregation services may be interrupted for up to 5 business days. On or after April 11, Intuit users are strongly encouraged to download a QFX/QBO file during this downtime, in which the following services may not work: 

• Quicken Win/MAC Express Web Connect 
• QuickBooks Online Express Web Connect
• Mint

After completing the instructions above, please carefully review your downloaded transactions to ensure none were duplicated or missed on the register.

Statements

When will I receive my statements?

• You will receive two statements for April. 

                                                                                                    
• The first statement will reflect transactions from April 1 through April 8. Monthly maintenance fees, if any, will be waived during this time.   
                                                                                                                  
• If your statement cycle is at the end of the month, you will receive your second statement at the end of April, with transactions from April 9 through April 30.         

                                                                                   
• If your statement cycle is mid-month, you will receive your second statement in mid-May, with transactions from April 9 through your normal statement date May 15.       

                                              
• All transactions will be viewable in Online Banking before and after conversion weekend. 


Will my prior e-Statements still be available in Online Banking?

Yes. Your statements prior to March, 2022, will be available immediately after conversion weekend. 

Will I still receive paper statements after the upgrade?

Yes. If you're currently receiving paper statements, they will continue. If you would like to switch to the convenience of paperless statements, you can do it directly through Online Banking. 

Will my statements look different?

After conversion weekend, statements and notices for consumer loan and residential loan customers may be in a slightly different format. Past payments/breakdowns and YTD totals will no longer be featured on the statements.



Telephone Banking

Can I access Telephone Banking during conversion weekend?

No. While we convert to our new platform, Telephone Banking will not be available from Friday, April 8 at 4:00 PM until Monday, April 11, no later than 10:00 AM. 

Will there be any changes to Telephone Banking after the upgrade?

No. There will be no changes to the Telephone Banking system. After conversion weekend, your password will temporarily be reset to the LAST 4 digits of your Social Security Number. At your first call, you will be prompted to select a new password, which you will use going forward. You may reuse your prior password if you choose.
